Around this time, the dreams started. Every night I walk through a desert of white stones. I reach down and pick one up and hold it in my hand. It is both cosmically vast yet infinitely tiny. I put it in my pocket. It feels cold and heavy against my leg. I begin to walk towards a door, but never reach it.
